POPIA and Lightstone

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act or POPIA) is now in effect and essentially sets out the rules and practises that must be followed when processing Personal Information. It is the law that governs how people may and may not treat others’ Personal Information in terms of processing, handling, sharing and storing this information.

Lightstone has implemented policies, processes and procedures to ensure that where we process Personal Information as a Responsible Party, we do so in a lawful and reasonable manner that does not infringe the privacy of the Data Subject and where we process Personal Information as an Operator on behalf of our clients we do so in a manner that is compliant with the POPI Act.
