Rapid growth of electric vehicle sales on Signio

Toyota the top choice, women buyers on the increase

Non-ICE sales have increased by 140.8% in the first nine months of 2022 compared to 2021’s twelve months.

Despite the significant growth, non-ICE sales remain a fraction of ICE sales at 0.255% in 2022, although this is significantly up on the 0.052% recorded in 2020.

Hybrid sales in 2021 have exceeded all the non-ICE sales financed on Signio for 2019, 2020 and 2021 combined.

Women buyers typically accounted for between 23%-30% of non-ICE vehicles financed on Signio since 2015, but this has increased to 36% in 2022.

The top three non-ICE sellers on Signio in 2022 are Toyota, BMW and Lexus, with demand particularly strong for Toyota’s hybrid derivatives in the Corolla Cross, Corolla and Rav4 models.

Toyota and Lexus have benefitted from the technology developed by the original Toyota Prius in the 1990s.

Honda was the top performed until 2018 but since then has dropped out of the top three.
